The rise of the internet has transformed how we do business. It’s transformed how we find our target audience and how we market to them. One of the members of our Marketing Committee experienced that. He was born in 1995, a crossroad before the boom of the internet and smartphones.

After spending almost ten years in the wine industry, he found himself at a crossroads. He grew increasingly frustrated working in the wine industry, as he didn’t think it was forward-thinking in a world that is turning completely digital. “The wine industry still does business like it’s in the 1980’s. If you’ve worked at a winery in Napa, you’ve experienced how slow business moves and how outdated all systems are.”

Looking Forward

He took the skills that he acquired mainly working in sales and marketing in the wine industry, and applied them to growing online businesses. Competition is fierce in any industry, but even more online. You are no longer competing with the other businesses in your city. You are competing with the entire world. Uniqueness and the ability to develop a brand are key to separate yourself from competitors.

With his experience working at luxury wineries in the Napa Valley, he turned his sights to Alure Brands. Selling wine or any other alcohol is one of the most difficult things to sell. Why? Because there are only so many things you can or are legally allowed to say. What differentiates you from your neighbor winery or a winery in Oregon? Storytelling and brand building have made wineries like Robert Mondavi and Hall Wines so successful. And that’s the same approach he took when building Alure Brands.

The Inspiration for Breathe Tape

With the internet, we are in an age of constant nonstop information. Social media feeds you nonstop content, and their algorithms are optimized to keep you interested. In the self-improvement space, figures such as James Nestor and Andrew Huberman have become rock stars.

James Nestor is a New York Times Best Seller who wrote a book on how we breathe, ironically called Breathe: The New Science of a Lost Art. He begs people to stop mouth breathing as he warns that it is killing them and negatively affecting their health in more ways than one could imagine. Andrew Huberman is a Stanford University Neuroscientist who hosts the Huberman Lab, which is one the biggest podcasts in the world for optimizing our health.

Both of them urge individuals to avoid mouth breathing at all costs. Through his own experience of sleep taping, his life changed. His sleep, health, and motivation transformed.
